Oooh we do love a bit of gossip surrounding the forthcoming James Bond, Skyfall. While the last few flicks have been getting more and more modern, to the point that I accept that I won't have a clue what's going on so may as well just enjoy the action, the romance and Daniel Craig's sixpack, the next movie is reverting back to that old 60's style. Producer of Skyfall, Michael G. Wilson, has revealed that the latest installment will have a "magical 1960s feel". Wilson hinted that the 23rd Bond movie will call on Goldfinger of 1963 to create a "very special" classic cinematic experience.
Speaking with The People, Wilson said "the director Sam Mendes and Daniel are taking it back to a '60s feel - more Sean Connery... I think that's what the fans wanted. [It sure is.] There's a magical Goldfinger feel surrounding it all. It's all very exciting. I can't wait for people to see the movie because I think we're making a very special Bond."
And if this wasn't enough to make Bond fans leap with excitement, Wilson went on to say that he hoped to organise an event featuring all six Bond actors - Sean Connery, Daniel Craig, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan - to mark the release of Skyfall and the franchise's 50th anniversary next year. How amazing would that be? "We'd really like to get all six together... We're trying to find a way for fans to celebrate with us because they've been the reason the Bond films have been the success they have."
In other Bond related news, Daniel Craig has apparently been offered a multi-mullion pound deal, and signed himself up for five more Bond movies. Will we be sick of him by then? I think not. By then he will have stepped into Bond's shoes 8 times which makes him the longest serving 007, knocking that title right out of Roger Moore's hands.
In the same interview with The People, Wilson had these kind words to say of the Bond actor: "Daniel's been a terrific Bond, a superb actor and a terrific man. The fans love him and I don't think there's a better actor to play the part. It's certainly something we'll be discussing with him once we finish shooting Skyfall... Filming has gone very well so far and I'd love Daniel to surpass Roger's record and do eight pictures. Daniel's been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously... There's really no-one more passionate about making these films work than him - he's a filmmaker's dream. A lot of people have said Daniel's been their favourite Bond since Sean Connery and I can't argue with them. He's doing a great job."
